So. Third week in a row. I guess this is my life now: sitting in a small room that smells like spilled rum and squirrels.

... Honestly this is better than some bars I've been in. Anyway, this is Jessica Jones and here's the news that a bunch of alcoholic squirrels scribbled on post it notes.

Nothing in school or the dorms. Clearly you teenagers are boring or just really sneaky.

Over in town, Steve and Danny got back from a baseball game and apparently came home covered in old bay seasoning. I'm not sure how they play baseball in Baltimore but in NYC we usually just watch a game but you guys do you.

Duke was on the beach being moody and got a visit from a raccoon. Ah. Sorry. He got a visit Octavia who is a raccoon because apparently that's a thing again.

The new guy Dwight set up shop where he'll fix and clean things. Rosa stopped by and apparently said more than ten words to Dwight. Wow... she must like you. Alluka stopped by and gave Dwight the heads up about the gremlins. Travis also came by with his dog and also talked about the oddness of Fandom. Miguel also stopped by to talk about vacuum cleaners with tentacles. Also the squirrels gave me a note to pass along to Dwight to let him know that apparently there are "no gas leaks" in Fandom. I have no idea what that means.

Finally Silver was at the Devil's nest throwing out old olives and Rey stopped by to be adorable with him.

That's it for the news. This is Jessica Jones who apparently will be here every week even though I don't give a *BEEP*. Have a day.

comments

Too clean. It smelled... funny.

She was on her way to the bedroom to call it a night when she caught sight of it. A can sitting on the kitchen counter left out specifically where Jessica could find it.

The swear jar.

"Jesus fucking Christ."

She picked it up and was just about to throw it in the trash when she stopped herself.

She placed it back on the counter and then dug around in her pocket, shoving a dollar bill in it.

She then went to her bedroom, threw her jeans on the floor and looked at the wallpaper on her phone for five minute before finally passing out for the night.

[NFI]

comments

Jessica had been in the middle of <s>drinking</s> dinner when her phone started going off. She had set up notifications to let her know if anything further might be happening in Harlem. Not that she was worried about Luke. Nope. Not at all. He could handle himself. He had bulletproof skin and could bench press a Buick. He didn't need her help.

That all went out the window when she saw a live clip of Luke getting the shit beat out of him by some weirdo in a high tech suit. Within a second of seeing what was going on she was out the door and made a giant "leap" across Fandom and towards the Portalocity office. After threatening a gnome with bodily harm she was sent back to her dimension and her New York.

( She didn't make it in time... )

comments

“Have you called him?"

The phone was nestled between Jessica's shoulder and her cheek. This allowed Jess to pour a drink and flip channels with her remote. "No."

"He could probably use your help."

Jess sighed and took a sip of her drink. It was cheap and heinous but it did the job. "He's made it pretty clear that he wants nothing to do with me, Trish. If he wants help he has my number."

Jess heard Trish sigh at the other end of the line. "I was going to do a show on him tomorrow."

"Great," Jess replied flatly.

"You want to call in and give a testimonial?"

"What? About how great he is in bed?" she responded sarcastically.

Trish paused for a moment to let that sink in before responding. "I think I'm just going to take calls."

"That's probably for the best. I gotta go."

"Are you making an excuse to hang up?"

"Yes," Jess replied and promptly hung up the phone.

Then poured herself another drink.

comments

With everyone in Japan or elsewhere, Jessica felt like she had the island almost all to herself. Even when she hit the perk yesterday, Jess didn't have to wait in line and the barista didn't even judge her for pouring whiskey into her coffee.

So she was enjoying sleeping in today. Rosa wouldn't know if she was late to the office and it hardly mattered anyway. All that was going on there was the stupid bee lady.

But her plan to sleep in was quickly dashed by the multiple texts and buzzes coming from Trish.

( This got long )

Jess hadn't seen him since the night she took down Kilgrave. More guilt.

She had his number. She could call. Talk with him. If shit was going down in Harlem maybe she could even help.

Of course the last time they were trying to help each other she ended up shooting him in the head.

She sat there for a good five minutes staring at the phone.

And finally, instead of calling him, she went to go find her pants.

[Open for phone calls or whatever.]

comments

Surprising nobody, Jessica woke up hungover this morning. And like pretty much everyone else on the island there was a bunch of suitcases all over her apartment. She walked past the set of luggage labeled "Dead Parents" and "Dead Brother" only to find a duffel bag labeled "Alcoholic" in the kitchen.

Deciding to skip the coffee, she went into her living room to find a small steamer trunk labeled "Emotionally Distant", another slightly larger trunk that just said "Trish" and finally two giant sized steamer trunks that were taller than her. One was labeled "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder" and the other one just had the word "Kilgrave".

Jess stood there for about a minute before turning around and going straight back to her room to go back to bed.

[Sure.
Yesterday had been a complete disaster for Princess Jessica! When she had awoke her bedchambers had been a complete mess and someone had stolen all her clothers leaving behind vile rags that no princess would dream of wearing out in public. Plus the only thing to drink in the house were strange bottles of liquor that burned her throat when she sipped from it.

It was enough to drive a princess to tears. However her tears had gotten the attention of some well-meaning woodland creatures. Who could sew.

Just roll with it. Okay?

It had taken most of the evening but when Jessica had awoke she had found that most of vile rags had been transformed from raggedy black t-shirts to a magnificent gown. Complete with a tiara. Jessica was so pleased she instantly put on her gown and went to the balcony...

Did her apartment have a balcony?

Well. It did this weekend.

Nevertheless she went to the balcony and began to sing to the woodland creatures who had served her so well to show her gratitude.

Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!Ah!

And the birds in turn sang back to her.

Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!Cheep!

And now there was a delightful soundtrack to back up the singing!
Up until yesterday, Jessica hadn't even heard of Portalicity. So the trip back to NYC, along with a special guest, was quite easier than expected.

Malcolm had already done the groundwork for the case which was the usual: A wife cheating on the husband and the husband paying Hogarth for proof of the affair for a future divorce trial.

The case was unusual in one aspect: The credit card reports did not show any kind of use at the usual dive hotels used for hookups. However Malcolm had discovered a lease in the woman's maiden name that was still active. In Brownsville.

The place in question looked more like an abandoned building than an apartment which for some reason made Jessica uneasy.

Still, she had found a point on the roof of a main building that had sight on both the main and back entrances of the building. And she had two full flasks with her to keep her warm.

Hopefully her guest had brought his own. It could be a long day.

"Is this as glamorous as your LA stakeouts?" she asked as she peered through her telephoto lens.

comments

Jessica was flat out unconscious when the annoying phone began to ring. She ignored it hoping it would just go to voice mail. No such luck. When it did the phone just started ringing again.

She didn't need to look at who it was. Only one person did that to her.
Jessica returned to her room late in the evening. After the events at Caritas, she headed over to the throughway just to make sure she could leave the island. After stepping off onto the mainland her phone began to buzz like crazy making her groan and turn around to go back to her room.

She immediately packed her bags and sampled the jug of sake as she did.
